Feeding Program

The Future Factory runs feeding programs in many communities, including Ottery, Steenberg, Parkwood, Retreat and Manenberg.

Our major feeding program takes place in Ottery, where over 5000 people are fed every week. This includes breakfast for school children, meals throughout the day for senior citizens and after school feeding. Food for the week costs R1000, plus expenses for transport and electricity. The program is run from a small outlet in the Ottery community near the Al Azhar school.

We also work with the Ray of Hope Feeding Program in the Parkwood community, and have a family feeding program, providing food parcels for families in need. People can sponsor a family, who will then receive parcels of non-perishable and fresh food on a regular basis.

The Future Factory also supports the Lotus River Clinic feeding, which provides meals to those people waiting for medical treatment and medication.

At Christmas time we hold our annual Christmas party in the Ottery community, feeding and providing party packs for over 2000 children in one day, and during school holidays, we can feed over 1000 children a day at our holiday program activities.

Approximately 50 children are fed at one of our community centres each afternoon, and our goal for the upcoming year is to have the same feeding operating in our three other Retreat/Steenberg community centres.

All expenses for the feeding programs come from donations. For some of the recipients, the food they receive from these programs is the only food they get, so support is always appreciated.
